Hi,
I just invented some new pronouns for myself, based on the third person singular pronoun yena in isiXhosa (that is the language of the AmaXhosa, meaning Xhosa people).
This is not following the isiXhosa grammar very closely, because isiXhosa and the English language have different grammar. I have taken some isiXhosa words though and changed them up a bit. I am aware that this could be seen as a form of cultural appropriation, but I hope it is clear that my intentions are to honour isXhosa and the amaXhosa. If you are umXhosa and feel this is disrespectful, please get in touch with me directly.
Examples
Here are some examples of usage of these pronouns in sentences:
I think ye is very nice.
I met yena recently.
Is this yayo dog?
Ye told me that the house is yayos.
Ye said ye would rather do it yenakhe.
Table
| Subject | Object | Possessive determiner | Possessive pronoun | Reflexive |
| ye /ˈje/ | yena /ˈjena/ | yayo /ˈjajo/ | yayos /ˈjajoz/ | yenakhe /ˈjenakhɛ/ |
